Romania is a trully blessed country. It has everything! Besides the spectacular countryside, medieval cities, high mountais, virgin forests, old castles, it also benefits from a nice sea coast and a Delta that is unique in Europe.
Constanta is the biggest port at the Black Sea and it is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Romania. It was founded around 600 BC. The city is located in Dobrogea area, in the SE.
The population is a mixture of romanians, greeks, tatars, turks, bulgarians etc. One can easily observe the strong influence of all these inhabitants in the construction of the buildings, life style, and of course…food.
The city still preserves many historical sites worth visiting like The Genovese Lighthouse, the Museum of Archaeology and History , The Roman edifice with mosaic, The Muslim Mosque, but also contemporary attractions such as The Aquarium and The Casino.
Just next to Constanta we can find Mamaia, the sea resort that is on the TO SEE list made by LONELY PLANET, for 2016! It is the perfect choice for lavish parties, loud music on the speakers, concerts on the beach, casinos..
But if you are not the party type, Dobrogea region can offer you more than that: the Danube Delta. The Delta is a paradise for those who enjoy bird watching, sailing on the canals, photographers, and …fish dishes.
But that is not all. In Dobrogea one can do hiking in Macin Mountains, or visit old fortresses like Enisala and Histria, which is also an old settlement of a greek colony.
