The program looks like this:
Day 1: Arrival in Petrosani city. We will drive up to the cable car and then take the chairlift that will bring us on the ridge.
Now it’s time to take a look at the beautiful landscape that is displayed before our eyes. The first important peak that we will set foot on is Parangul Mic(2074 m alt.). Further on, the path goes on the ridge, displaying beautiful views to the left and to the right, towards Petrosani and Retezat Mountains.
But since this is a lake tour, the surprise of the day is the beautiful Mija Lake(1975 m alt.). The lake is situated in a glacial valley, a feature of all the high mountains. Sheltered by huge and imposing rock walls, the lake looks very mysterious..Also, it has a very beautiful colour, a special kind of blue, worth capturing on film…
The shore of the lake is the perfect place for a tent. Surrounded by vegetation and immersed in deep silence, it makes a good resting place for the night.

Day 2: After a good and strong coffee, early in the morning, we will go back on the ridge and continue the trek up on the next big peak in Parang, Carja(2405 m alt.).
The ridge gets rockier and steeper in places, so a little bit more attention is required. Soon, we’ll get to Carja Refuge, a shelter in case of foul weather, situated on the ridge of the mountain. This is the place where we stop for some tea and chocolate.
Further on, the guides will show you a very beautiful viewpoint from where you will see some more beautiful lakes down, in the valleys..
We still have a long way to go, though. Today we will step on the highest peak in these mountains, Parangul Mare(2519 m alt.). Called Oltenia’s roof, Parangul Mare offers a great perspective towards Rosiile Valley, our aim for the day.
Rosiile Valley is also the place where we will pitch the tents, in the evening. Oh, did we mention the beautiful lakes in the area? No? Oh well, you will see for yourselves then.

Day 3: We’ve saved the best for last. Our route will take us to Refugiul Agatat(Suspended Refuge) and then to Groapa Seaca hut. But first we have to seeanother two beautiful lakes: Zanoaga Stanei and the Long Lake.
Also, you will have the chance to see why Parang is also called…cemetery aviation. Nearby we will see aircraft wrecks . Some say there are planes from the second World War….
We’ll spend the night at Groapa Seaca hut.
