Join us for a tour in the magical Retezat National Park, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Romania. Some of the highlights here include the biggest and also the deepest glacial lake in Romania, 80 small lakes (iezere or tauri), over 20 peaks that are over 2000 m, an abundance of unique and amazing flowers.

Things to know:
- Retezat is a beautiful but challenging mountain! This trek means you have to be in a very good physical shape and be able to climb and descend big level differences, every day
- You have to be able to carry a tent, food supplies and your own equipment
- Be prepared in case of foul weather. This means strong wind, rain, hale, fog etc.
- The facilities at some of the huts are really basic (toilet outside the hut, no showers)
DETAILED PROGRAM:
Day 1: Bucharest – Hateg – Carnic – Gentiana hut
Meeting in Bucharest and transfer to Hateg. We will start our hike and we will go to Pietrele hut, where we will enjoy a cup of tea. Later, we will continue to Gentiana hut.
Accommodation at Gentiana hut (rooms with bunk beds).
Day 2: Gentiana hut – Bucura saddle – Bucura Lake – the tour of the lakes
We will start the day with fresh coffee and tea. Then, we will start to hike to Bucura Lake. This is a 4 h hike which will take you to the realm of the high peaks. Feast your eyes with amazing views of the mountains, pass by Pietrele Lake, and drink from the fresh streams. Once we get to Bucura saddle we will admire Retezat and Judele Peaks, and Bucura Lake. We will continue with the tour of the most beautiful lakes in Retezat.
Overnight camping at Bucura.
Day 3: Bucura – Peleaga Peak – Bucura saddle – Gentiana hut
Start your day with a climb on Bucura Peak (2508 m). It is a steep but rewarding climb. Once on the top you will admire 360 views with the surrounding peaks. We will come down from Peleaga, and continue to Bucura saddle and then Gentiana.

Day 4: Gentiana hut – Carnic – back to Bucharest
Today we say goodbye to the beautiful Retezat Mountains. Our amazing tour ends but it leaves us with great memories, hundreds of pictures and the desire to come back and explore this piece of heaven.
