You are planing a city break in Bucharest soon? There is so much to see and do in the capital of Romania. But if you also want to get a glimpse of Romania outside Bucharest and you also want to experience some outdoor activities, we recommend some guided day trips from Bucharest. You can choose from or have them all: hiking, countryside life and amazing views.
Guided hiking trip in Ciucas
Ciucaș is one of our favorite mountain ranges in Romania and we always offer guided hiking tours there. It’s not only our personal preference. There are plenty of reasons to choose it for a one day hiking tour because it is very close to Bucharest (perfect for a day trip), accesible, not very difficult, the views are great and the legends are very interesting. The highest peak called also Ciucaș is only 1954 meters high.

Explore the country side around Bran Castle
Situated at the foot of the mountains, between Bucegi and Piatra Craiului, surrounded by forests, the villages in Bran area kept their traditional look. There you can see shepherds houses, old households, cows and sheep and great views toward the mountains. Also, we have a great connection here, a nice local lady that cooks delicious food for our guests. The hike along the villages is easy, perfect for those who want to take their time to enjoy the landscape. Also, it is a great family experience in Romania.

Snowshoeing in Romania
Who says that winter is not a good season for traveling? Snowshoeing in Romania is a great way to discover the mountain villages with less effort. Going up in the mountains using snow shoes is way easier than hiking. This way you can enjoy the trail more and take the time (and breathe) to take photos, talk to your friends or family. Or simply listen to the sound of the snow under your shoes.

A day trip for passionate hikers – Iezer Papusa
For the passionate hikers who are looking for a day trip from Bucharest, we recommend a guided hiking tour in Iezer Păpusa mountain range. It has everything: a glacial lake with crystal clear water, a remote refuge hidden in a beautiful valley, high peaks over 2000 m and an imposing ridge line.
Hiking with a view in Baiului mountains
Baiului mountains are not very difficult to hike, actually the hiking trails are considered “medium difficulty” but they offer an amazing view towards Bucegi mountains. Baiului is also a great place for snowshoeing, snowmobiles and photography tours.
